The Flood

Thank you all for all the well wishes...I appreciate each of you stopping by. I honestly am so overwhelmed with all that has been thrown at me the last few days I don't even know where to begin.

so from the beginning!! :) Our spare hallway bathroom (that we never use) is where the problem began. Some kind of plug popped off of the hot water valve to the sink. Thus allowing it to flow freely all over my house. What weve learned in the last day is that hot water is worse than cold water...as in the damage that it does. The smell that hot water causes is awful...stomach turning to say the least!! HOt water also delaminates carpet faster...thus today they tore out the carpet in my ENTIRE house!! We also had a company come and get every piece of clothing that we own (which is an insance amount) and are cleaning them. They came on Tuesday and took all the clothes that were wet...but then today I went to put a shirt on that had been at the house and the smell was horrible...so they are washing everything!!! The same company also came and picked up my wedding dress today. The dress seems to be OK..but the preservation box was distroyed by the water.
Jared and I met with a contractor yesterday and hope to meet with a couple more tomorrow. We need to have one hired by the first of next week so we can get started. So far we are getting, New carpet, hardwood floors, all the rooms on the main level and the upstairs hallways will be re-painted, lots of new molding, new island..and possibly all new cabinets. I know sounds exciting...but honestly I'd take my old kitchen, old house back in a heart beat, sleep in my own bed....put this nightmare behind us. I know it will all me beautiful when it's done...but they are estimating that to be 2 months away!!! There is a company coming to pack up the entire house tomorrow and put everything in storage. So it will be like moving in all over again in two months...urghhh I hate moving!!

I'll leave you with a couple pictures. These were taken my our neighbor Phil. He was the one taking care of our dog and found the mess Sunday morning.
***Notice the floating apples in the bowl on the 2nd picture and in the 3rd pictures you can see the water still running off the Micorwave and Stove. We hope to have someone out tomorrow or Friday to check all our appliances, furnace and water heater to see if they have been damaged.

That looks heartbreaking, Jennifer. Our prayers are with you and your family right now. I know it must be hard on the kiddos to be uprooted and in a different routine. Where are you staying???

We will be thinking of you.. Mandy F

Oh no! I can't believe how much damage was caused by one leak! I know you must have been horrified to return home to find this. Your family will certainly be in our prayers. It's going to be tough disrupting the routine for everyone, but focus on those beautiful renovations you're getting! ;-) I wish I lived close enough to help you somehow.
